Welcome to Highfield Leadership Academy

GCSE results show strong improvement at Highfield

Pupils, staff and parents are celebrating after collecting their GCSE results on Thursday, which show strong improvement on last year’s performance.

37% of pupils achieved the government benchmark of A*-C grades including Maths and English – up nearly ten percentage points on last year (29%).

These results demonstrate the excellent progress the academy is making, and show that the work of teachers, parents and the academy’s sponsor is making a positive impact on the life chances of young people in Blackpool.

Lynette Norris, Principal, said:

“I want to congratulate pupils on their results today.  There are some great individual achievements and everyone should be proud of their efforts.

“The academy has made real progress this year, and we pleased this is reflected in the achievements of pupils.

“We know there is still work to be done, and we are absolutely committed to building on this progress to ensure pupils at Highfield enjoy the very best education.”

Alan Fisher, Chair of Governors, said:

“Congratulations to our GCSE pupils! It is great to see the progress made by the academy which is testament to the hard work of pupils, staff and parents.

“There have been some big changes at the school over the last year, including becoming an academy, and we’re pleased these developments are already having a positive impact on pupils at Highfield.  We will be working hard over the coming months and years, alongside our sponsor, to ensure these improvements continue and pupils enjoy high quality education.”

Principal’s Welcome

I am delighted to be writing to you as the new Principal of Highfield Humanities College and immensely proud to be given the opportunity to work with the families, staff and governors of this vibrant and thriving community. I have been impressed with the determination and resilience of both the staff and students that I have met so far and I am looking forward to working more closely with all Highfield families in a true partnership where everyone can thrive and enjoy the successes they deserve.

Highfield is a large, inclusive, hard-working secondary school with special designation as a Humanities College. We are housed in a fantastic, eye-catching, purpose built new building on extensive grounds situated on Highfield Road.

We honour traditional British Values of care, consideration, trust and respect whilst enjoying the benefits of state of the art technology, facilities and resources.

We pride ourselves in the personal touch and enjoy a long-standing reputation of being a school that goes the extra mile. We are regularly oversubscribed, as parents appreciate the warmth and care of our pastoral support whilst continually striving to cater for all abilities. We are truly inclusive and encourage all our students to aim high and are proud of our Oxbridge graduates as well as those who need special provision. Our teachers and associate staff are experienced, well qualified and professional and all genuinely have the welfare of our pupils as their priority.

We know that starting secondary education is a huge change for many families, which is why we place significant effort and attention on our summer programme and transition activities helping new students to extend their friendship group, get to know our staff and find their way around our impressive site.

I want to extend a very warm welcome to all newcomers to this website and to Highfield Humanities College itself, please get in touch if you can’t find what you are looking for or if you would like to visit the college itself.
